synopsis
When he landed on Eigg in 2015, Charles Delcourt felt a kind of love at first sight, like a call. Both for the magnificent landscapes of this Scottish island but also and above all for the way of life, harsh and committed that the inhabitants developed, who became owners of their island in 1997. As he regularly stayed there, he discovered and documented their way of being, combined with an original energy model. The island of Eigg is now completely autonomous thanks to sustainable resources (hydroelectric, wind and solar). The island presents a rare example of citizen self-management.
ISLE OF EIGG is a photographic book that reflects the feelings of Charles Delcourt. Supported by the inhabitants and particularly by Camille Dressler, historian and author of the text, this work becomes in a way the islanders' passport to the continent.

about Charles Delcourt
Charles Delcourt is a trained landscape architect. His images display a keen sense of composition, a precise spatial arrangement of beings and things.
Charles works with color to make it a link between his different photos and subjects. He does not avoid the shift - he plays with our reasoned certainties, disconcerts with the winks appearing in his photography. He undoubtedly experiences the world as a smiling and supportive passenger.
Winner of the 2021 Albert-Kahn scholarship. Winner of the 2023 Eurazeo prize and the Support for Creation of the CNAP.
