
synopsis
From 1996 to 1998, Claudine Doury traveled in the footsteps of Siberian minorities, from the Amur River to the boreal lands. Endless stretches of snow, herds of reindeer, yurts, migrating populations yurts, migrant populations weaving a link between two continents, snow “Indians”, walrus hunting and fishing that feeds the man. and the fishing that feeds them, and the occasional town or city of an elsewhere crossed by sledges; it’s all this that Claudine Doury Claudine Doury summons us to. For four years, in all seasons, Claudine Doury to meet the peoples of Siberia, whose traces she has been seeking forgotten peoples whose stories she has read and whom she is going to meet again.

about Claudine Doury
Claudine Doury was born in Blois, near Orléans, France, in 1959. After studying Journalism, she first worked as a photo editor, before turning fully to photography. She has received a number of awards for her work, including the Leica Oskar Barnack Award (1999). Her mostly long-term series have been published and exhibited worldwide. Doury has been a member of the Agence VU since 1991. She lives and works in Paris.
